The framework to move beyond compliance

At its most basic level, DryBMS requires companies to meet existing legal requirements (Basic Level). The next three levels (Intermediate Level, Advanced Level and Excellence Level) allow companies to identify processes, procedures and practices that are beyond compliance and help achieve safer, more sustainable operational practices. 

DryBMS sets out 30 areas of management practice within four sections: Performance, People, Plant and Processes.

11. Crew familiarisation

The company has a programme to ensure crew members are familiar with the arrangements of the ship, as well as the location and operation of any on-board procedures, systems or equipment that they may be called upon to use.

12. Contractor management

The company develops and implements a process for the management of contractors and sub-contractors with emphasis on the master’s and other officers’ and crew members’ related health and safety responsibilities.

13. Crew welfare

The company has a programme to ensure the wellbeing of vessel personnel.
