Ian took the helm in April 2024 with a mission to see a maritime industry that causes zero harm, where we can deliver innovative safety, sustainability and crew welfare solutions making the world a better, safer, more sustainable place to live.
He is a senior maritime professional and past co-founder/director, with significant international and domestic experience in the shipping industry. An expert at delivering highly effective and sustained safety improvements. After a career at sea, he held safety, assurance and compliance roles as an independent maritime advisor to insurance and legal clients before taking up leadership positions in ship managers and energy companies. Most recently he was 15 years at Shell International Trading & Shipping Company Ltd, managing Maritime Assurance for Global Trading & Supply.
Your Guest Speaker Deepak Gupta – Leading the Marine Standards & Assurance and QHSE team at Oldendorff.
Deepak’s career includes a wide range of industry experience. He is an ex-Master Mariner, with 18 years seagoing experience on various vessels, including 6 years in command, his career then developed ashore with vessel owners and managers in functions such as post fixture operations, marine, vetting and QHSE. Deepak is a bulk carrier operator and charterer and will be sharing his perceptions of the DBCE’s industry initiative, the Dry Bulk Management Standard.
