The International Bulk Journal (IBJ) Awards is a celebration of innovation, dedication, and excellence in the global bulk industry. This year, while DBCE did not take home the trophy, being shortlisted alongside remarkable companies remains a tremendous honour and a testament to our team’s hard work and commitment.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners who continue to set the benchmark for excellence in our industry. Their achievements inspire us to push boundaries and strive for even greater accomplishments in the future. Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey. Being recognized as a finalist motivates us to keep innovating and contributing to the growth and success of the sector.
Why DBCE is still a big win for safety:
We are an independent non-profit organisation dedicated to raising standards and best practices in dry shipping. We aim to achieve this by providing shipping companies in the dry bulk sector with a common quality benchmark – the Dry Bulk Management Standard framework.
There have been too many bulk carrier incidents in the last decade. The journey to improved safety standards continues, however regulations alone are not going far enough to safeguard crewmembers. Our mission is to see a maritime industry that causes zero harm.
The Dry Bulk Standard is an easy-to-use online self-assessment tool for ship operators. It is designed to assess processes and practices. It offers guidance on how to improve operations, ensure a cultural change in safety management and elevate safety standards beyond compliance.
DBCE administers and governs the DryBMS framework. Through diligent identification of safety trends and focus areas, we have contributed to the development and promotion of industry best practices.
So, we didn’t take the walk to the podium at this year’s IBJ awards. The recognition of our aims to elevate safety standards only encourages us to keep up the good work!
