Important news for the dry shipping industry. We are proud to announce the launch of the Dry Bulk Management Standard (DryBMS) portal, dedicated to increasing safety, wellbeing and sustainability across the dry bulk shipping sector.

Industry experts, including INTERCARGO and RightShip, have worked collaboratively to establish DBCE (Dry Bulk Centre of Excellence) the home of the DryBMS platform. DBCE, an independent, non-profit organisation, has  evolved the DryBMS framework to help drive the industry to develop best practices and improve operational standards.

DBCE allows ship owners and managers to complete their own online self-assessment against the DryBMS framework. By answering a series of questions companies can assess their working practices and gain a better understanding of how they can raise their operations beyond entry level compliance. Subscribing to DBCE brings many benefits to your organisation including promoting HSSE and the wellbeing of your personnel, risk assessment, cybersecurity and crisis management. DBCE also shows charterer customers your dedication to delivering beyond compliance.

Ian McLeod Managing Director of DBCE, said “Far too many seafarers incur life changing injuries or lose their lives while at work. With the launch of the DryBMS portal, we aim to help drive a reduction in the incidents by helping ship operators improve how they manage their vessels and operations.

The DryBMS portal is the result of 4 years of collaborative teamwork and provides a graduated framework of industry best practices that exceed the basic statutory requirements. For ship operator subscribers this easy to complete self-assessment portal marks the beginning of improved sea safety standards for everyone.”
